Mt Lehman Fall Fair

Q. What are the advantages of becoming a member of the Mt. Lehman Community Association?

A.

  • Members receive copies of the minutes of all Board Meetings.  Any contentious issues are discussed at one meeting but not voted upon until the next, allowing members to express their opinions or attend the meetings.
  • The Association maintains a neutral stance on most issues.  Members receive notification of issues which affect the community, together with the names of people who have an interest in spearheading a particular viewpoint, in favour or against.
  • Members can rent the hall at discounted prices, and use the games field for their events.
  • Members who live outside the newsletter delivery area receive electronic copies.
  • The Association awards three bursaries each year to students at local high schools.  One of the criteria is that they or their families are members of the MLCA.
  • You meet a lot of nice people and really feel that you belong in the community!

Q. What does it cost to become a member?

A. If you pay for one year it is $25, if you pay for two years it is $40. Membership includes the whole family at no extra cost. Dues help to defray the costs of operating the hall and putting on events.

Membership covers the year from January to December, although new members who join late in the year (November-December) will have their dues applied to include the following year.

Q. How can I join?

A. For information go to the Membership page.

Q. If I become a member today, can I rent the hall at the member’s discounted price tomorrow?

A. No, you must be a member in good standing for at least 6 months to qualify for the discounted price.

Q. How can I become more involved in the Mt. Lehman Community?

A. Helping out in the community is rewarding and you meet many people and make a lot of friends. If you would like to help in a capacity that does not involve sitting on the Board of the Association, here is a selection of tasks for which we always need volunteers at various events: help to set up and take down equipment; collect the cash for a pancake breakfast or other event; sell tickets; help with advertising; put up and take down signs; help direct people at events; dress up and take part in pageants; drive a hay-wagon for kids’ rides; help to clean up the hall and grounds once a year; maintain the hall front garden; help to organize things; and more. Whatever your strong suit is, we can use your assistance!

Q. Who do I contact to offer my help?

A. Any of the Association Board Members.

Q. If I have an idea for a new event, to whom should I take my suggestion?

A. Any member of the Mt. Lehman Community Association is welcome to attend regular Board Meetings. These normally take place in the Hall at 7:30 pm on the second Monday of each month. Board Members welcome your comments, ideas and suggestions. Or contact anyone on the Board.

Q. If I want my business to have a link on this website, who should I contact?

A. Contact the Webmaster.
